OMG, what have I been missing?

Before falling in love with Young Adult fiction, I read a variety of books, both fiction and non, but they never included romance, or chick lit. Too happy and charming for me, always been attracted to darker themes.

Then I found Young Adult, and I mostly read fantasy, sci fi.

Well, I was at the library a few days ago and they had "Anna and the French Kiss" by Stephanie Perkins. I have read countless posts on how fabulous Stephanie Perkins is.. so I thought, what the hell, lets try something new.

People!!!!! why didn't someone tell me how freaking fabulous she is? okay, you who have read it, have probably done so on your blogs! But I need someone to shove it in my face.

I'm only like 10 pages in and already I ADORE Anna... and I'll be honest, I'm feeling a little silly, because this is sooooo not the type of story I like to read, but Anna? she is just too charming!

Have you read this book?

what did you think?

  4. I haven't read this book yet! I'm like you--I like darker themes/more fantasy-ish books. But I've also heard great things about Stephanie's books, and now that you are gushing about it I suppose I'll have to pick up a copy :)

  6. I have it on my list, but like you, I need recommendations shoved in my face. The author is at a panel event tonight at my local bookstore but I'm not sure if I'm going yet. Maybe I should or I'll be miffed to have missed her once I read this.

  10. It was way fun.

If you like that one, you need to read The Truth About Forever by Dessen.
    SO good.

  12. I haven't read this but it is on my TBR list. I have so many books on my shelf that are lonely and want me to read them, that this one will have to wait a little while.

  13. I have not read it, but how could I pass it up after all the glowing reviews and recommendations here? I will add it to my list. I am more of a mystery/suspense reader, but I like to add variety to my list. I actually read a book Sunday, in one day (I didn't expect to do that during NaNo), but you know what happens when a book takes control and you just cannot put it down. I read, The Boy In The Suitcase, by Lene Kaaberbol and Agnete Fris. It was relatively short, about 300 pages and full of suspense. If you are looking for a quick mystery read you should give it a shot. I had never read anything by either of these authors and I was very impressed.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving. You have me psyched to read Anna & The French kiss, next.

  14. Oh my goodness, I love this book! I actually had the pleasure of meeting Stephanie before I read ANNA and I just loved her. She's so sweet, and likable, and normal! I was a fangirl before I even started reading her work. I bought ANNA that day and I was blown away. This book is amazing and so is the author! I recommend it all the time. :)

Also, thanks for the blog comment!
